The Department of Mathematical Sciences is devoted to the study and development of the mathematical disciplines both in pure and applied areas of mathematics. The department offers a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics where students are required to complete a total of 120 credit hours.
The department has devised a modified mathematics curriculum that achieves an adequate balance between depth and breadth of knowledge. The modified curriculum incorporates an academic internship component with a professional working opportunity to develop a comprehensive integrated learning and work internship program. This is an excellent opportunity for mathematics majors to experience different working opportunities and obtain professional experience.
At the graduate level, the department offers MSc and PhD programs in several areas of advanced mathematics including pure and applied mathematics. Students are encouraged to participate in the departments scientific activities such as weekly seminars and workshops, and extracurricular activities such as the Math Club, Math Help Center and Annual Math Days. It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Department of Mathematical Sciences and I invite you to explore our website.
Two members of UAEU Faculty at Dept. of Mathematical Sciences Prof. Victor Bodi and Dr. Vasyl Laver have made an applicable E-package, a GAP System Package for Threshold Logic called “Thelma” a project sponsored by UAEU via a UPAR Grant.
The project is part of an International Mathematical Software Package (GAP) considered for Computational Algebra and Application, based in Saint Andrews University (Scotland, UK).
Dr. Adama Diene
Chair of the Department
